Pharmaceutical Packaging requires specialist preparation before it can be used. Andersen Caledonia has set up the first dedicated contract site for RTU pharmaceutical packaging in Europe with the full range of services required to perform all tasks required at a single location.

What Andersen Caledonia offer

Our facility has the capacity to process 20 million glass vials ranging from 2ml to 100ml a year. We have the flexibility to process small batches as well as larger volume orders.

  • Ultra clean washing using distilled water for injection and high-volume rotary vial washers
  • Depyrogenation in hot ovens with filtered air
  • Packing using trays and/or pouches in an ISO 5 cleanroom
  • Sterilisation with Ethylene Oxide or Steam
  • Microbial testing with an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory
  • Process validation in accordance with relevant standards including ISO 21882. ISO 11607, ISO 17655 and ISO 11135

Final Packing Solutions

We can supply a range of packing solutions for your vials and stoppers including nested trays and standard Corex trays. Double or triple packing options are available. All packing solutions can be validated for shelf-life expiry date using our in-house team of packaging experts.

Why Buy Ready To Use (RTU) Pharmaceutical Packaging

The benefits of RTU Pharmaceutical Packaging are considerable. The product is supplied in a sterile ultra-clean format and can be filled immediately with a drug or other biologics material.

  • The time to set up a manufacturing line is reduced by removing several complicated processes such as cleaning and depyrogenation.
  • The product is purchased in bulk prior to use so there is no need to balance the filling line with the preparation of the pharmaceutical packaging.
  • Filling line downtime is reduced as key processes such as the production of Water for Injection for the cleaning of the glass vials which require considerable maintenance are now outsourced.
  • As the RTU pharmaceutical packaging is terminally sterilised, the level of sterility assurance is higher than with traditional aseptic sterilisation techniques. This reduces the level of testing necessary and the risk of a failed batch.
  • RTU packaging is available in small batches which would be uneconomic to process with in-house equipment.
